Worcester, MA (September 22, 2011) - On Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at approximately 8:45 PM a Worcester Police cruiser was traveling west bound in the area of 194 Stafford Street when a male who stepped off the curb, looking backwards, with his back towards traffic, walked into the travel lane and was struck by the front passenger side of the police cruiser. As a result of the impact the male was thrown to the ground. The officer stopped his cruiser and called for an ambulance. The male was conscious and alert and appeared unhurt, however he was transported to U-Mass Hospital (university Campus) for observation. The victim received some bruising and a concussion, there were no other injuries reported. This investigation is ongoing.
