Worcester, MA (August 30, 2017) – On August 30th, 2017, at about 12:53 AM, police were dispatched to Santiago’s Market at 286 Pleasant St for a break in progress. A caller from the area said that someone had broken the front window and was inside the store walking around. Police arrived and found that the front window had been smashed, but the intruder had left prior to police arrival.
Officers were able to view the surveillance footage from the store, and got a good look at the male suspect. The suspect picked up a rock, smashed the window, used his cane to knock out the remaining glass, and entered the store. The male attempted to conceal his identity, and went behind the register and stole several lottery tickets before leaving the store.
The responding officer issued a BOLO containing the description of the suspect, and shared the surveillance photos via department email. Later in the day, two officers working the Summer Impact patrol were in the area of 100 Chandler St. They observed the male from the surveillance footage, later identified as Henry Prince, sixty-two-years-old of 13 Jacques St. He had the same cane and was wearing the same clothes as the male in the picture. Mr. Prince was charged Breaking and Entering at Nighttime to Commit a Felony, and was placed under arrest. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
