Worcester Man Arrested By Detectives for Armed Robberies

Worcester, MA (January 30, 2012) - On Monday January 30, 2012 at approximately 5:00 PM Worcester Police Detectives were on the look out for Jeffrey Packard, 22 years old of 10 Hammond Street. Mr. Packard was wanted for several recent armed robberies here in the city. At this time, detectives came upon a vehicle at a red light on Chandler Street by Hamil Street. In the passenger seat of this vehicle was Mr. Packard. Detectives stopped the motor vehicle and removed Packard from the passenger seat. Mr. Packard began to resist the officer’s attempts to place him in handcuffs but after a brief struggle he was subdued.

Mr. Packard was transported back to police headquarters where he was interviewed. As a result of the interview Mr. Packard was charged with 5 counts of Armed Robbery, one count of Resisting Arrest along with one open arrest warrant for Armed Robbery and one default arrest warrant for Armed Assault with Intent to Rob. The following stores were robbed by Mr. Packard at knife point:

  1. Sunoco Gas Station located at 527 South West Cutoff on 01/20/2012
  2. Honey Farms Market located at 353 Grafton Street on 01/22/2012
  3. Sunny farms Market located at 115 McKeon Road on 01/23/2012
  4. Seven/Eleven located at 1326 Main Street on 01/24/2012
  5. Edgemere Mini Mart located at 734 Grafton Street on 01/28/2012
  6. Honey farms market located at 237 Cambridge Street on 01/28/2012

In all of the listed robberies cash was taken, there were no injuries reported. Mr. Packard will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

There will be no new additional information released at this time.
