Worcester, MA (March 5, 2012) - On Monday, March 5, 2012 at approximately 11:23 AM Worcester Police responded to a Wilbur Street home for a report of a break in progress. Information was received that the suspect was a white male, 5’8” tall, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack. The suspect was last seen walking south on West Boylston Street.
Arriving officers met with the homeowner/victim. According to the victim, he arrived home with his son at approximately 11:00 AM. When they drove up to the home they observed the suspect exiting the front door of his home. When questioned what he was doing, the suspect stated that he was looking for someone and walked away.
Several police units arrived and searched the area for the suspect. Police interviewed a nearby business owner. It was discovered that the suspect did enter the business, made a phone call and exited the premises. Additional Information was obtained that the suspect was last seen getting into a Yellow Cab.
A short time later the cab was located and stopped in the area of Salisbury and Flagg Streets. The suspect was located in the back seat. His clothing matched the description that was earlier broadcasted. The suspect was in possession of a backpack which contained evidence linking him to two house breaks on Wilbur Street.
Witnesses were transported to the location of the suspect and he was identified as the male seen exiting the premises. The suspect, identified as Christopher Savasta, 27 years old of 2 Courtland Street, Worcester, was charged with 2 counts of Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent to Commit a Felony, Larceny Over $250.00 and Possession of Burglarious Instruments.
Mr.Savasta is being held on $7,540 cash bail and will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
