Woman Killed when Struck by WRTA Bus

Worcester, MA (September 29, 2012) - On Friday, September 28, 2012 at approximately 8:53 PM Worcester Police responded to Sagamore and Grove Streets for a report of a pedestrian struck by a WRTA bus. Upon police arrival they came upon a female victim lying in the road. Worcester EMS arrived at the scene and treated the woman. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:33 PM.

The bus and the operator were on scene when police arrived. Officers interviewed the driver. The Worcester Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded and is now investigating this incident.

At this time the investigation is ongoing. The name of the victim is being withheld until proper notification of family members has been completed. No citations issued at this time as the investigation is in its early stages.
