Worcester, MA (February 26, 2010) - On February 25, 2010 shortly before midnight Lieutenant Michael McKiernan responded to the Worcester Municipal Airport for an inbound flight that has an unruly passenger. Upon the officers arrival he met with the pilot of Direct Air, Robert Nelson. According to the captain, he was flying into Worcester from Sanford, Florida when he was informed from the service manager of the flight crew that she had an unruly, intoxicated passenger that would not follow instructions from the flight crew. According to the service manager the woman became unruly soon after the plane had taken flight.
The passenger, Ms. Kristi Mikkila-Rondeau, 40 years old of 40 South Spencer Road, Spencer, MA was arguing with the service manager periodically throughout the flight to Worcester. Ms. Mikkila-Rondeau was demanding that she be served alcoholic beverages before the beverages were being served and continued to argue once she was refused the request.
The captain was informed of the woman's behavior and contacted the Worcester Airport Police and requested their assistance. The Airport police then contacted the Worcester Police. After interviewing the captain and the service manager, Lieutenant McKiernan then interviewed Ms. Mikkila-Rhondeau. After a brief conversation with Ms. Mikkila-Rondeau she became verbally abusive to the officers present; it was apparent to the officers that she was intoxicated and combative. At this time she was arrested for Interfering with an Aircraft Flight Crew and Operation of an Aircraft. Ms. Mikkila-Rondeau was transported to the Worcester Police Station without incident.
