Worcester, MA (December 8, 2017) - On December 8th, members of the Worcester Police Vice Squad were in the May Street area between Main Street and Park Ave in response to complaints about street-level drug dealing in the area. At about 11:45 AM, vice officers observed a male pacing back and forth on Hollywood St and using his cell phone. Officers continued surveillance of the male, with whom they were familiar. The male’s behavior was consistent with that of a drug buyer waiting to meet a dealer.
The male met with female, later identified as Tayralee Umana, twenty-three-years-old of Dudley, outside the 7-11 Market on Park Ave. Vice squad officers had information that Ms. Umana had heroin on her person. Ms. Umana and the male went into 7-11 together, and they exited and went their separate ways. While they were in the store, a Chrysler Pacifica pulled into the parking lot. When Ms. Umana exited the store, she immediately walked up to the Chrysler and tried to enter the vehicle.
Officers stopped Ms. Umana, who was found to be in possession of 21 knotted bags of heroin. She was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute. She will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
