Worcester, MA (August 30, 2017) – On Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at approximately 11:00 AM, members of the WPD Vice Squad were conducting surveillance in the area of May and Mayfield Streets. At this time one of the undercover officers observed a male and female walking through the Big Y parking lot located at 100 Mayfield Street. The female, Nicole Penque, 30-years-old of 48 Davis Avenue, Wrentham, was known to the officer as a result of past drug investigations. The male was later identified as Ryan Cordova, 21-years-old of 39 Mann Street.
Officers followed the two as they walked into Beaver Brook Park. Shortly afterwards the officers observed a male approach the couple and conduct a street level drug transaction. The male, later identified as Brandon Horne, 23-years-old of 61 Outlook Drive, Worcester, parted from the couple and walked off in different directions.
Some officers followed the couple while others followed Mr. Horne, the suspected dealer.
Officers stopped Ms. Penque and Mr. Cordova. A search of Mr. Cordova produced a small baggie that contained heroin. A records check for the two resulted in Ms. Penque having an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant was for Possession of Class A Substance. Both were subsequently placed under arrest. Mr. Cordova was charged with Possession of Class A Substance.
At this time the vice officers had probable cause to arrest Mr. Horne. Officers observed Mr. Horne approach a parked motor vehicle. Mr. Horne noticed the officers closing in on him so he decided to run off. Officers gave chase and he was quickly taken to the ground and apprehended.
A search of Mr. Horne produced 38 small knotted bags of heroin and $584.00 in cash.
Mr. Horne was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute and Distribution of Class A Substance.
