Worcester, MA (June 21, 2011) - On Sunday, June 19, 2011 at approximately 10:00 PM Worcester Police responded to the area of Providence Street by Dorchester Street for a report of shots fired. Multiple police units responded and it was discovered that two males, one 19 years old and the other 17 years old were both shot in the legs. Both males were transported to UMass Medical Center (university campus) for treatment; their injuries are non-life threatening.
According to preliminary reports, both victims were leaving a cookout with two other males and were walking on Providence Street. As the group was walking, a vehicle drove by and began to fire at the four males. The males could not provide a vehicle description to investigators. They were also uncooperative in providing any other pertinent information to assist in this investigation. At this time, there is no motive established, however, investigators continue to investigate this incident as they conducted a canvas of the neighborhood for the purpose of locating additional witnesses. The Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit arrived and processed the scene.
