Two Men Arrested for Breaking Into School

Worcester, MA (May 31, 2011) - On Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at approximately 2:32 AM Worcester Police responded to 75 Lovell Street, the Columbus Park School for a reported alarm call. Upon the officers' arrival they observed damage to an exterior door. Responding officers could also hear noise coming from the interior of the building. At this time the officers called for a Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit to assist in searching the building for the suspect(s).

Upon arrival of the K-9 Unit, officers had secured the perimeter of the building while the dog entered the interior. The dog immediately went towards the utility room in the lower floor and located two suspects who had been hiding in that room. The suspects were in possession of a hammer and screwdriver which were believed to have been used to force the exterior door open for access. The suspects were also discovered to have a Bose docking stereo system, iPod Nano, am/fm/stereo player and a Polaroid camera. The two men were placed under arrest and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime With Intent to Commit a Felony, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Larceny Over the Value of $250.00 and Malicious Destruction of Property Over the Value of $250.00.

The men were identified as Rafael Trinidad, 33 years old of 20 Lakewood Street, Worcester and Anthony Rivera, 20 years old of 16 Orient Street, Worcester. Both men will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
