Two Men Arrested for Breaking Into Maywood St Restaurant

Worcester, MA (September 27, 2017) - On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at about 4 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the Worcester Pizza Factory restaurant at 75 Maywood Street for a reported break in progress. A caller reported seeing two males wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts break the back door of the Pizza Factory and make entry.

Upon arrival, officers made their way to the rear of the Pizza Factory and immediately observed the rear door to be partially broken, leaving enough room for suspects to enter. Officers saw a male with a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and gloves look out from underneath the door. Officers gave verbal commands for the suspect to exit with his hands showing, and the suspect ran back inside the restaurant.

Officers surrounded the restaurant to ensure that the suspects did not escape. They were able to see a male inside through the window. This male had a bandana covering his face and was not showing his hands or listening to officers’ commands. Officers continued to give commands for the suspects to exit the building.

Officers forced entry in the rear of the building, and began to search it. They observed two suspects, later identified as Ruben Morales, twenty-five-years-old of 150 Chandler St, and Juan Garcia, thirty-seven-years-old of 20 Columbus Street, hiding behind a counter. Mr. Morales and Mr. Garcia were both placed under arrest and charged with two counts of Vandalism, Breaking and Entering at Nighttime for a Felony, and Resisting Arrest. They will be arraigned today in Worcester District Court.
