Worcester, MA (March 18, 2013) - On March 15, 2013 Worcester Police set up a drug sting operation in which officers arranged purchases of heroin from two individuals. The two men, later identified as Luis Ramos and Jose Garcia, instructed the undercover officer to meet them in front of a store located on Park Avenue.
Mr. Ramos and Mr. Garcia met the officer and took out four knotted bags of heroin. The undercover officer notified members of the Vice Squad when the drug transaction was complete. The men attempted run away as soon as they saw police. The officers apprehended the two men. Mr. Ramos resisted arrest. One officer received a minor leg injury while trying to place handcuffs on Mr. Ramos. Mr. Ramos was in possession of 5 additional knotted bags of heroin, a switchblade with brass knuckles attached to the handle and $345 cash.
Luis Ramos, 46, of 45 Marsh Avenue, Worcester was charged with Resisting Arrest, Defacing Public Property or Property of Another, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute, Distribution of Class A Substance and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws. Mr. Ramos also had an outstanding arrest warrant for Larceny Over $250.00.
Jose Garcia, 31, of 173 Austin Street, Apartment 3, Worcester was charged with Possession of Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute, Distribution of Class A Substance and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws.
