Worcester, MA (October 9, 2017) - On Saturday, October 7, 2017, at approximately 5:00 AM, a Worcester Police officer was driving a marked police cruiser on Huntley Street when two young males were observed in a private driveway pulling on car door handles. The officer noticed that the two males fit the description that was given early in the evening that involved two males that broke into vehicles on Rich Street.
The officer called out for assistance and engaged the two males. One male ran off while the second one stayed behind. That male that remained gave the officer a name that would later turn out to be false. Meanwhile, the second suspect was in a foot pursuit with officers and was eventually found hiding behind a garage on Newton Avenue near Duffy Field. Both suspects were wearing backpacks. Both backpacks contained numerous items that were removed from several vehicles. As a result, both males were placed under arrest. The males are 17 and 14 year old juveniles that reside in Worcester.
The items recovered were returned to their rightful owners.
The two males were both charged with Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle in the Nighttime with the Intent to Commit a Felony. The 17 year old was also charged with Providing a False Name to a Police Officer. The 17 year old also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Both males will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on a date yet to be determined.
