Worcester, MA (September 8, 2017)– The Worcester Police Department announced intermittent traffic control and anticipated traffic delays for the weekend of September 9th due to several scheduled events in the city. The Worcester Police Department is advising drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to take extra care to obey the rules of the road and to be considerate of others traveling on local streets.
The following events may have an impact on the flow of traffic in the areas indicated:
Sept 9th Canal Diggers Road Race- Drivers can expect intermittent delays and detours from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Kelly Square, Green Street, Harding Street, Water Street, Franklin Street, Foster Street, Major Taylor Boulevard and Main Street (From Highland to Franklin). Parking is available at Union Station Garage for $1.
Sept 9th Worcester Pride Parade and Festival- Drivers can expect delays beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Salisbury Street from Institute Park to Grove Street, across Highland Street and Main Street to the Common. Worcester Pride will also host a celebration on the Common from noon-5:00 pm
Sept 10th Grid Block Party-Intermittent traffic control on Portland Street from Franklin Street to Federal Street between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Again, due to heavy pedestrian crowds associated with these events, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling in these areas.
