Three Teens Arrested on Gun Charges

Worcester, MA (March 18, 2010) - On March 17, 2010 at approximately 2:00 PM Worcester Police responded to a Millbury Street address for a report of an altercation in which a male was in possession of a handgun. As the officers were on their way to the address they received additional information that described the male suspect. As officer Kevin Fleming was in the area of Crompton Park he noticed a male walking that fit the description that was just given. Officer Fleming stopped this male near Harding Street with the assistance of Officer Thomas Salmon. This male was searched and no weapon was found.

Officer Michael Wilson interviewed the complainant, the officer was informed that the victim was in Crompton Park when Hector Torres, 18 years old of 7 Irene Street, Worcester, approached her and began to argue with her. During the argument, Mr. Torres made threatening comments and at one point threatened her with a handgun; the victim could see that Mr. Torres was in possession of the gun.

While Officer Wilson was interviewing the victim Detective Robert Johnson conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of where Officer Wilson was at. This motor vehicle stop was connected to this unfolding incident. Officer Wilson went and assisted Detective Johnson and discovered four people in the car.

There were two males located in the back seat, they were asked to exit the vehicle and they were searched. No weapons were found on the two. At this time Detective Johnson observed a gun in the back seat where these two males were sitting. Detective Johnson called out with his observation and one of the males fled on foot up Millbury Street towards Sigel Street. Detective Johnson gave chase with the assistance of Officer Brian Bisceglia. This male, later identified as Angel Crespo, 18 years old of 157 Vernon Street, Worcester, ran in the middle of Millbury Street, dodging oncoming vehicles. He was subsequently apprehended at Millbury and Endicott Streets.

Once Mr. Crespo was secured Detective Johnson took control of the .357 revolver. The serial numbers had been removed from the weapon. The firearm was shown to the victim and it was identified as the one that Mr. Torres used to threaten her with. Mr. Torres was arrested along with a 15 year old male who was sitting in the back seat of the car with Mr. Crespo.

Mr. Torres was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (gun), possession of a firearm and ammunition without an FID card, possession of a firearm with defaced serial numbers, threatening to commit a crime and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.

Mr. Crespo was charged with resisting arrest, possession of a firearm and ammunition without an FID card, possession of a firearm with defaced serial numbers and disorderly behavior.

The 15 year old male was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without an FID card and possession of a firearm with defaced serial numbers. Both Crespo and Torres are being held on $15,000 bail and will be arraigned at Worcester County District Court on Thursday, 03/18/2010 while the juvenile was transported to the KEY program and will be arraigned at a later date in Juvenile Court.
