Three Men Arrested in Connection with a Home Invasion on Svea Street

Worcester, MA (February 24, 2016) - On Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at approximately 5:00 PM Worcester police were dispatched to a home on Svea Street for a Home Invasion.

Upon arrival, officers met with a 36-year-old year old male victim who reported being assaulted in his apartment by three males. The males, who were known to the victim, broke into the apartment and began to punch and kick him multiple times.

One of the suspects took the batteries out of the victim’s home phone and then proceeded to steal his cell phone. The suspects threated the victim to prevent him from calling the police.

Additional officers arriving on scene located the suspects at the corner of Maxwell Street and Raymond Street. The males were positively identified as the suspects.

Officers recovered the stolen cell phone on Upsala Street.

Robert Balsam, 40, of 69 Vernon Street, Apt. 409, Worcester was charged with Home Invasion, Larceny from a Person and Witness Intimidation.

Kevin Chestnut, 42, of 200 Vernon Street, Apt 7, Worcester was charged with Home Invasion, Larceny from a Person and Witness Intimidation.

Peter Rice, 41, of 217 Cambridge Street, Apt 1, Worcester was charged with Home Invasion, Larceny from a Person and Witness Intimidation.
