Shooting Incident

Worcester, MA (January 4, 2010) - On Saturday, January 2, 2010 at approximately 4:45 PM Worcester Police responded to Kansas Street for a report of shots fired. Upon the officers arrival they observed evidence which indicated that there were several shots fired. Officers on scene began to speak with several witnesses who stated that two vehicles were stopped in the area of Kansas and Lawrence Streets. These occupants of the two vehicles began to shoot at each other.

According to witnesses, three males exited a Ford Taurus and began to fire multiple rounds at a Ford SUV, a male occupant of the SUV then returned fire back at the three males in the Taurus. This exchange of fire was in a densely populated area with numerous occupied single and multi family dwellings.

Worcester Police detectives were called to the scene as well as the Worcester Police crime scene unit. Evidence was processed and witnesses were interviewed. Investigators were attempting to determine suspect information and to determine what the motive was that lead up the shootings. At this time it does not appear that anyone was hurt in this incident. Local hospitals were placed on alert but there were no claims of injuries. Several nearby dwellings were canvassed and there appeared to be no injuries.
