Worcester, MA (May 4, 2013) - On Friday, May 3, 2013 at approximately 5:42 PM, Worcester Police along with Worcester Fire and Worcester EMS responded to Bell Pond for a possible drowning incident. Upon police arrival, officers met with 3 young males, ages 11 through 12.

The boys informed the officers that they where swimming in Bell Pond with another 10-year-old friend. While the four boys were swimming, the 10 year old boy went further out in the water. The boy was seen going under water and never came back up. The boys called out to a woman who was in the area. The woman entered the water and began to frantically search for the boy until emergency personnel arrived.

The Worcester Fire Department Rescue Squad arrived along with the Worcester Fire Dive Team. The dive team searched the pond but the boy was not located. The search was suspended at 8:06 PM due to darkness and safety concerns.

The search for the boy will resume at approximately 8:00 AM. Worcester Police will remain at the scene throughout the evening.

The missing boy's family was notified of the incident and transported to the scene. The remaining three boys were interviewed by detectives.
