Rookie Officers Arrest Man Wanted on Outstanding Warrants in Connection with Shooting

Worcester, MA (April 30, 2013) - On May 1, 2013 at approximately 12:40 PM two of the newest officers who graduated from the Worcester Police Academy last month were assigned to uniformed foot patrol operations. The officers came across two males in the vicinity of Ethan Allen Street and Murray Avenue. A record check of 21-year-old Edimael Gonzalez of Worcester showed outstanding warrants for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Edimael Gonzalez, 21, of 42 Mendon Street, Worcester, MA was arrested for the outstanding warrants.
The warrants were the result of a shooting investigation that occurred on November 11, 2011 in the vicinity of Grafton Street and Mendon Street. During the incident the victim received a single gunshot wound (non-life threatening). This is an ongoing investigation.
Mr. Gonzalez will be arraigned tomorrow at the Worcester County Courthouse.
