Worcester, MA (June 9, 2017) – On Friday, June 9, 2017, at approximately 11:30 AM, members of the WPD Vice Squad were conducting undercover surveillance at the Burger King parking lot located on West Boylston Street. At this time one of the undercover officers observed a male sitting in green Subaru. This male was not eating and appeared that to be waiting for someone. The male was sitting in the car for a while which made the officer suspicious as to what his intentions were.
The operator of the Subaru started up his vehicle and drove out of the parking lot. The undercover officer followed him. The Subaru traveled a short distance and pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot. The officer observed a male standing in the parking lot. The male in the lot entered the passenger seat of the Subaru. The driver did not exit the lot but parked just a few feet from where the male was standing. A brief moment later the passenger exited the Subaru, looked into his right hand and placed an item into his front pocket.
At this time the Subaru backed up and drove out of the parking lot. The male that exited the Subaru was now seen entering the passenger seat of a Jeep. The Jeep then exited the parking lot as well.
It became obvious to the undercover drug investigator that he had just witnessed a street level drug deal take place. The officer called for nearby backup. Some of the undercover officers followed the jeep as it traveled north on W. Boylston Street while other officers followed the Subaru as it traveled south on W. Boylston Street. The Jeep was seen entering the parking lot of Honey Farms on W. Boylston Street. The officer parked his undercover MV and approached the passenger. The male was identified as Mark Domenici, 41-years-old of 23 Hemans Street. A quick search of Mr. Domenici recovered two and a half bundles (25 individual bags) of heroin.
With this discovery officers had probable cause to stop the Subaru. Officers followed the Subaru into a gas station parking lot. The driver was identified as Luis Gonzalez, 47-years-old of 13 Merrifield Street. A search of Mr. Gonzalez and the inside of the vehicle recovered six full bundles of heroin and five half bundles of heroin which amounted to 85 individual bags of heroin. Officers also recovered $344.00 in cash.
Mr. Domenici was charged with Possession of Class A Substance while Mr. Gonzalez was charged with Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute (second or subsequent offense) and Distribution of Class A Substance.
Both men will be arraigned on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
