Protestors Stay the Night at Lake Park

Worcester, MA (October 17, 2011) - On Monday, October 17, 2011 at approximately 1:18 AM Worcester Police responded to 455 Main Street in the rear of city hall for a report of protestors setting up tents on the common property. When police arrived they observed approximately 100 protestors on scene with several in the process of setting up their tents. Several units arrived at the scene and officials at the scene spoke with some of the protestor’s organizers. The group was advised that the park was closed and they could not set up their tents. After advising the group they decided to set up at Lake Park located on Lake Avenue and exited the common peacefully. Approximately 15 members of the group went to the state park and set up their tents and spent the night. There were no calls regarding disturbances with the remaining group at Lake Park.

The Worcester Police will continue to monitor the group’s activities in the downtown area.

There will be no new additional information released at this time.
