Worcester, MA (June 28, 2011) - On Tuesday, June 28, 2001 at approximately 2:00 PM Worcester Police responded to the area of 516 Franklin Street for a report of a crack being formed in the road near 516 Franklin Street. It has also been reported that a portion of the sidewalk is caving in as well. CSX is working below the road and has ceased work as Worcester officials arrive and assess the area.
At this time the west-bound lane, from Norfolk to Plantation Street is shut down while the east-bound lane from Plantation to Grafton remains open. Both and east and west bound lanes are open from Grafton Street to Norfolk Street.
It is urged for commuters to seek alternate routes as the road may be closed or at least be interrupted for the next few hours or until the road has been stabilized.
