Worcester, MA (June 17, 2013) - On Sunday, June 16, 2013 at approximately 1:22 AM, Worcester Police responded to the area of 137 Lincoln Street for a report of a male on the ground that apparently had been shot. Upon police arrival officers observed a 28-year-old male victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently listed in good condition.
According to the victim, he was on Lincoln Street where he was approached by a male suspect. The suspect demanded his valuables and was armed with a handgun. The suspect is described as being a Hispanic male, medium skin tone, in his twenties, 5’8” to 5’10”, slim build, short brown hair, clean shaven, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
The victim stated that the suspect came up close to him and struck him in the back of the head with the handle of the gun. The victim handed his wallet over to the suspect. The suspect was about to leave when he turned and shot the suspect. The suspect then began to run away but turned again and fired at the victim a second time. The victim was not hit with the second attempt. There were no other injuries reported.
The suspect was last seen running on Perkins Terrace.
The Worcester Police Detective Bureau responded to the scene and is now investigating this incident. Police continue to work on establishing the identity of the suspect.
