Worcester, MA (September, 10, 2013) - On Monday, September 9, 2013 at approximately 10:32 PM, the Worcester Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the area of 1274 Grafton Street for a report of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on a bicycle.
Investigators were informed that a 26-year-old male was operating a 1997 Lincoln Town Car on Grafton Street approaching Blithewood Avenue. When the vehicle traveled into the intersection he collided with an 18-year-old male riding on a bicycle.
Investigators interviewed a witness who was riding a bike behind the victim. According to the witness, they were riding their bikes on Blithewood Avenue; the victim was riding in the lead. The witness observed the victim turn left onto Grafton Street and then collide with the vehicle.
The victim received neck and head injuries. The victim is in critical but stable condition.
Investigators towed the motor vehicle from the scene and will conduct a full inspection to determine if the vehicle had any mechanical or electrical problems that would have contributed to the accident.
