Worcester, MA (March 2, 2017)- On March 2, 2017 at approximately 4:00 PM, Worcester Police responded to the area of 50 Murray Ave for a report of a pedestrian accident at that location. Upon arrival, police observed Worcester Police Fire Department and EMS providing aid to a 43 year old female. The female was transported from the scene to a local hospital and is being treated for serious injuries to the back of her head and arm.
Due to the nature of the accident, Worcester Police Crash Reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate. Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit also responded to document and photograph the scene.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim was walking across Murray Ave when she was struck by an Infiniti SUV being driven by a 26 year old male from Worcester. It does not appear that the Infiniti was speeding prior to the accident.
The driver of the Infiniti stopped after the accident and cooperated with investigators on scene. As part of the investigation, the vehicle was towed for further analysis. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. There are no further details to release at this time, and the victim is still being treated for her injuries.
