Worcester, MA (February 13, 2017) - On Monday, February 13, 2017 at approximately 6:00 AM, police responded to a fatal hit and run accident on Pleasant Street. The victim has been identified as 72 year old Tu Nghiem of Worcester.

Worcester, MA (February 13, 2017) - On Monday, February 13, 2017 at approximately 6:00 AM, Worcester Police were dispatched to the area of 1251 Pleasant Street for a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a pickup truck. Prior to arrival, police were informed that the truck fled the scene towards the direction of Paxton.
Upon arrival, police observed members of the Worcester Fire Department on scene treating a 72 year old male victim who was lying in the street. The victim was transported by ambulance from the scene to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Due to the nature of the accident, Worcester Police Crash Reconstruction and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene. While at the scene, police spoke with several witnesses who observed the accident. Police were informed that the victim was walking in the east-bound travel lane on Pleasant Street when he was struck by a dark colored pickup truck with a plow. The truck was heading west towards Paxton. After being struck, the victim immediately fell to the ground. Several witnesses stopped to call police and assist the victim. Witnesses observed the pickup truck continue without stopping, heading west on Pleasant Street towards Paxton.
At this time, the investigation is still active as members of the Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating.
