Police Arrest Female for Upland Gardens Stabbing Incident

Worcester, MA (June 17, 2013) - On Sunday, June 16, 2013, at approximately 1:47 AM Worcester Police responded to a local hospital for a report of a stabbing victim who had just walked in. Upon police arrival they met with the boyfriend of the 19-year-old female victim.

Police were informed by the boyfriend that the female victim was stabbed in an Upland Gardens apartment where the boyfriend resides. The stabbing occurred when his ex-girlfriend, Mikeala Banzuela arrived at the apartment. Upon the arrival of Ms. Banzuela, a fight between the two females erupted and the victim was subsequently stabbed in the abdomen. After the stabbing Ms. Banzuela, 21-years-old of 7 Ryberg Terrace, fled the scene.

The victim was driven to the hospital and had to undergo surgery. The victim’s wound is not considered life threatening and she is currently listed in stable condition.

Police located and arrested Ms. Banzuela at her home. She was transported to police headquarters and interviewed.

Ms. Banzuela was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. She will be arraigned today at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
