Pedestrian Struck by MV on Pleasant Street

Worcester, MA (January 29, 2012) - On Sunday January 29, 2012 at approximately 12:30 PM, Worcester Police responded to a report of a pedestrian accident at Pleasant Street by Mason Street. Responding officers arrived at the scene and met with the 66 year old male victim and the 34 year old female operator of the vehicle. The male was conscious and alert, however, he was suffering from injuries to his left hip, leg and foot. The male was transported to U-Mass (university campus) by Worcester EMS. He is listed in good condition.

The operator of the vehicle informed the officers that she was traveling north on Mason when she stopped at the intersection of Pleasant Street. She then turned left onto Pleasant Street and heading west when she struck the male pedestrian who was walking from a north to south direction of Pleasant Street. The impact occurred in-between the east and west bound travel lanes of Pleasant Street.

The Worcester Police Traffic reconstruction team was called to the scene and took over the investigation. Police observed no damage to the vehicle involved. The driver was interviewed by investigators. The vehicle will be examined by the investigating officers. This investigation is ongoing; no citations have been issued at this time.
