Worcester, MA (February 3, 2012) - On Friday February 3, 2012 members of the Worcester Police Gang Unit executed a search warrant for 22 Front Street, the Mid-Town Mall, specifically the Music Fashion store. The target for the search warrant was Miguel Calderon, 26 years old of 36 Gibbs Street, Worcester. Mr. Calderon is the owner of the store.

At approximately 11:00 AM the gang unit officers observed Mr. Calderon arrive at his store and open it for business. The under cover officers observed several people waiting for the arrival of Calderon outside the business. Once he arrived the people were let in. A short time later, the people exited the store without any bags in hand and looked as if there were no purchases made.

Officers entered the store and met with Mr. Calderon, he was then informed of the search warrant. The store was then secured as the search began. Members of the vice squad assisted in the search with their K-9 drug detecting dog Brie. Brie searched the store for several moments until a sandwich bag with 81 grams of heroin was located under a sink in the office. Mr. Calderon was searched and 25 additional bags of heroin were located on him weighing an additional 10.4 grams. Police also discovered Mr. Calderon to be in possession of $2,921.00 in cash. The officers also discovered an additional $411.00 in rolled coins. The money was confiscated as proceeds from drug sales. Police also discovered electronic scales along with numerous bags of packaging materials and other drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Calderon was charged with Trafficking Heroin 27-99 Grams and a Drug Violation  within a 1,000 Feet of a School (The Research Program). Mr. Calderon was transported to police headquarters for processing. He is being held on $100,000 cash bail and will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Monday, February 6, 2012.
