Man Shot to Death in Newton Ave Apartment, 6th Homicide for 2012

Worcester, MA (May 14, 2012) - On Sunday May 13, 2012 at approximately 11:45 PM Worcester Police responded to 5 Newton Avenue, Apartment # 3 for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Worcester Police discovered a male victim laying face down on the floor. The victim was identified as 25 year old Nestor Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez suffered a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Worcester Police executed a search warrant at the Newton Avenue apartment and discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

This is the sixth homicide in the city this year.

The Tactical Response Area has been relocated to the neighborhoods surrounding Lovell Street and Newton Avenue. In these designated areas, residents will notice an increase police presence including additional foot patrols and traffic enforcement and investigative officers.
