Man Shot in Home Invasion on Woodman Street

Worcester, MA (July 1, 2011) - On July 1, 2011 at approximately 4:16 AM Worcester Police responded to a Woodman Street home for a report of a male who was shot by two unknown men wearing ski masks and hooded sweatshirts. Upon the arrival of the police they discovered the 30 year old male victim in the hallway of the apartment at the bottom of the stairway; he was alert and talking. The victim was shot in the right lower back. He was quickly transported to UMass Medical Center (university campus) and immediately went into surgery. At this time his injuries are considered to be non-life threatening and is in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates that two men wearing masks arrived at the victim’s apartment at approximately 4:00 AM and forced their way into the apartment. The victim began to fight with the intruders and he was shot shortly thereafter.

The Worcester Police Detective Bureau along with the Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit responded and processed the scene. Detectives are working this case as they try to determine a motive for the shooting.
