Worcester, MA (November, 1, 2013) - On Friday, November 1, 2013 at approximately 5:36 PM, Worcester Police responded to 42 Chandler Street, The Fadeaway Barbershop, for a report of shots fired. Upon police arrival, the officers observed that the business was in darkness with no employees inside the shop. Officers were in the process of locating witnesses at the scene when they were informed that a gunshot victim had just arrived at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Officers secured the crime scene while other officers responded to the hospital. Officers met with two males who had transported the 30-year-old male victim. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival to the emergency room. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time until all proper notifications have been made to family members.
Police learned that the victim was shot inside the barbershop after he had an argument with an unknown male. The suspect had entered the shop and started an argument with the victim. The argument became physical prior to the suspect producing a gun and shooting the victim.
Members of the Worcester Police Detective Bureau impounded the vehicle that transported the victim. The vehicle was towed to police headquarters for processing. The Crime Scene Unit arrived at the scene and processed evidence. Detectives identified numerous witnesses and conducted interviews at police headquarters.
Investigators are working on the identity of the suspect as well as a motive to the fight leading up to the shooting.
