Worcester, MA (June 12, 2013) - On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at approximately 1:10 PM Worcester Police were dispatched to the area of 173 Mower Street for a report of a male breaking into a white Subaru. Police were given a detailed description of the suspect.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male fitting the description of the suspect near the Subaru. When the suspect saw police, he threw the two bags that he was holding and jumped on a bike in an attempt to flee. The suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Joseph Laperle, ignored all commands to stop. Mr. Laperle then jumped off the bike and began to run.
Police caught up with Mr. Laperle and he refused to comply. Eventually, officers were able to apprehend him. Mr. Laperle was in possession of several stolen items including the wallet of the owner of the Subaru. The bicycle that Mr. Laperle was driving was also reported stolen. The two bags that Mr. Laperle threw when police arrived contained stolen items from another vehicle that was broken into. Police also recovered stolen items that were taken from a garage.
Joseph Laperle, 37, of 32 Hilda Street, Apt 2., Worcester was charged with Larceny in a Building, Resisting Arrest, two counts of Larceny Under $250 (Larceny from a Motor Vehicle) and three counts of Breaking and Entering During the Nighttime for Felony.
