Man Arrested for Threatening, Disturbing Hotel Guests

Worcester, MA (October 26, 2017) - On Thursday October 26th, 2017 at about 9:30 PM, Worcester police officers were dispatched to the Beechwood Hotel for a report of a guest causing a disturbance. Officers spoke to hotel employees, who said that a guest, later identified as Vinay Manjunath, thirty-one-years-old of Rutland, had been threatening hotel employees. They said that Mr. Manjunath was smoking marijuana in his room, walking around the hotel nearly naked, and disturbed multiple guests by banging on random doors.

When hotel employees spoke to Mr. Manjunath and told him that he was no longer welcome at the hotel, he became irate. He threatened to shoot up or blow up the hotel, and trashed his room. The hotel staff and guests were placed in fear by these threats, and officers began to look for Mr. Manjunath. A Worcester K9 bomb dog conducted a sweep of the hotel rooms where Mr. Manjunath had been, and they were clear.

As the officers were searching for him, Mr. Manjunath continued to call the hotel front desk from an outside number. He was eventually located across the street from the hotel and placed under arrest for Threats Causing Evacuation or Disruption, Threatening to Commit a Crime, and Disorderly Conduct. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
