Man Arrested for Breaking into House, Fighting Police

Worcester, MA (August 3, 2017) – On Thursday August 3rd at about 4 AM, Worcester Police were dispatched to 33 Oberlin St for a report of a possible house break in progress. Officers received information from people in the neighborhood that there were people inside the second floor apartment, which was vacant. As officers approached, they heard what sounded like someone running on the second floor.

Officers formed a perimeter around the building and ordered whoever was inside to exit the building slowly with their hands up. One of the officers observed a male, later identified as Kyle St. Martin, twenty-nine-years-old of 28 Shelby St, break a window on the second floor and jump to the ground. Mr. Martin began to sprint toward one of the officers, who began struggling with Mr. Martin. Mr. Martin, who was holding a cell phone, struck the officer several times in the head during the struggle with the phone. Other officers came to assist, and Mr. Martin continued to fight and resist, punching and kicking officers until he was subdued and placed under arrest.

Police entered the vacant apartment to search for additional suspects.  They located a female, identified as Crystal Charpentier, twenty-six-years-old of Grafton, hiding in a closet. A warrant check showed that she had an outstanding warrant, and a search incident to arrest revealed a small bag of what appeared to be cocaine in her purse. She was placed under arrest.

Kyle Martin is charged with B&E Nighttime for a Felony, Trespass, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (cell phone), Defacement of Property and Resisting Arrest. Crystal Charpentier is charged with B&E Nighttime for a Felony, Trespass and Possession of a Class B Substance.
