Worcester, MA (July 22, 2017) – On July 22nd 2017 at about 11:30 AM, police responded to the area of 11 Westminster St for a report of a silver motor vehicle that had struck parked cars. Also, a caller said that someone with a machete was chasing the operator of the silver motor vehicle.
When the police arrived, they observed a parked car that had sustained serious damage. The suspect vehicle was gone, as was the person with the machete. Officers spoke with witnesses, who gave the license plate of the silver vehicle, which turned out to be a 2005 Silver Honda Accord with New Hampshire plates. Officers ran the plate through the CJIS system, and found out that the vehicle was stolen out of Connecticut. It was also wanted in connection with a robbery in New Haven, CT. The officer on Westminster St broadcast the description of the vehicle over the radio.
Shortly afterward, another officer called out with the vehicle at the intersection of Franklin and Main St. The officer on Main St tried to stop the Honda, and the driver opened the door as if to flee. The officer stopped him before he could exit the vehicle and took him into custody.
The operator of the Honda was a fifteen-year-old juvenile from Connecticut. He was placed under arrest for Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority, Receiving Stolen Property, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage. He was brought to the hospital for injuries sustained when he struck the parked car. Worcester Police will be in touch with investigators in Connecticut, and the juvenile will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
