Graffiti Investigation leads to Arrest of Thirty-Five-Year-Old Worcester Man

Worcester, MA (July 23, 2017) – Over the past two months, several buildings on the East side of the city have been vandalized. Someone spray painted words and phrases like “Banga,” “LincSet,” “LSP,” “Money over Bitches,” and other slogans on various businesses and residences on Grafton St, Lincoln St, and other locations. Because some of the phrases are references to city gangs, the Gang Unit did the investigation. In total, there were nineteen locations that had been defaced. In some of the locations, the owners had repeatedly painted over the graffiti, which kept reappearing again and again.

After seeing surveillance footage, an officer from the Gang Unit was able to identify the suspect as Lawrence Rutherford, thirty-five-years-old of 98 Green Hill Parkway. Mr. Rutherford goes by the name “Banga.” He was charged with 19 counts of Defacement of Property, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Mr. Rutherford was located on Grafton St and arrested on July 23rd.
