Worcester, MA (August 21, 2017) – On Sunday, August 19, 2017, at approximately 12:36 AM, Worcester Police officers on patrol were notified to be on the lookout for a white Audi sedan. Officers were informed that the operator of the vehicle was involved in an altercation at the Canal Bar on Water Street. Officers were also told that the operator was seen with a handgun and it was displayed during the incident.
Several officers responded to the Water Street area. Within a few minutes one of the officers spotted the Audi parked on Pond Street. Officers approached the vehicle and found it to be unoccupied. As officers were standing near the vehicle, a male and female walked up to the officers. The male stated that the Audi was his.
Officers explained why they were looking for his vehicle. The male, later identified as Dominic Rosario, 24-years-old of 266 Pleasant Street, Gardner, stated that he did not have a gun on him but that there was one inside the Audi. Officers located the firearm in the unlocked glovebox. Officers recovered a box of 9mm ammunition and a Smith and Wesson 9mm firearm. As officers began to secure the weapon they discovered a small plastic baggie that contained crack cocaine.
Officers continued to search the vehicle for other contraband when they discovered a loaded Colt AR-15 (assault rifle) and numerous rounds of loose ammunition.
Mr. Rosario was placed under arrest and charged with Improper Storage of a Firearm, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Class B Substance.
Mr. Rosario will be arraigned today at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
