Worcester, MA (March 9, 2010) - On March 7, 2010 at approximately 2:00 AM members of the Worcester Police Gang Unit received information from the Massachusetts State Police that they had information that a particular female in the Newbury and Pleasant Street area was in the possession of a handgun. A physical description as well as clothing description was provided about the female. After receiving the information the gang unit immediately went to that area and after a brief search they observed a woman who matched the descriptions given.
The officers observed the woman walking across Pleasant Street and were stopped in front of 275 Pleasant Street. Officers immediately noticed a large bulge in the front of her waistband area. Officers conducted a pat frisk of that area and discovered the handgun in her waistband. The firearm is a 9mm Smith and Wesson 9mm semi automatic handgun which was loaded.
The woman was identified as Leslie Martinez, 35 years old of 49 providence Street. Ms. Martinez did not have a valid license to carry firearms and was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card and Carrying a Firearm Without a License.
