Female Pedestrian Stable after Struck by MV on Chandler Street

Worcester, MA (October 23, 2017) -  On Monday, October 23, 2017, at approximately 8:00 PM, Worcester Police responded to the area of 107 Chandler Street for a report of a pedestrian and MV accident. Upon the officers arrival they observed a 40-year-old female suffering from head trauma. The pedestrian was conscious and alert. Worcester EMS arrived and treated the pedestrian at the scene prior to being transported to a nearby hospital.

The operator of the vehicle, a 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser, remained at the scene and spoke with officers. Officers were told that the Chrysler was traveling west on Chandler Street when the pedestrian was struck. The pedestrian was crossing Chandler Street from south to north and hit in the right westbound travel lane.

Due to the serious injury that the pedestrian received, the WPD Crash Reconstruction Unit arrived and took over the investigation. Investigators processed evidence at the scene, spoke with witnesses and towed the Chrysler to police headquarters for a mechanical inspection.

Investigators went to the hospital and checked on the condition of the pedestrian. Investigators were told that the pedestrian is currently in stable condition and being held for further observations and tests.
