Euclid St Man Arrested for Firing AK-47 Rifle During Fight

Worcester, MA (July 3, 2017) - On July 3rd, 2017 at about 12:49 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to 1 Euclid Ave #2 for a report of a large fight that involved a possible gunshot. When officers arrived at the residence, they heard a loud bang and the footsteps of a male coming down the stairs. The officers loudly announced their presence, drew their firearms and ordered the male, later identified as Rodney Johnson, forty-five-years-old of 1 Euclid Ave, to show his hands. Mr. Johnson complied, and was pat frisked.

Officers interviewed Mr. Johnson, who was intoxicated and uncooperative. He said that he was in his apartment when three males came to rob him. He said they shot at him, so he grabbed a knife to defend himself. While they were speaking with Mr. Johnson, officers located a shell casing, in an area not consistent with Mr. Johnson’s story. They asked Mr. Johnson if he had witnessed anyone fire a gun in this area. Mr. Johnson said that he fired his AK-47 in the air once to scare off the attackers.

Officers asked Mr. Johnson if he had a valid license to carry firearms, and he said that he did not. They conducted a protective sweep of the apartment, and spoke to Linda Nketsiah, forty-six-years-old of 1 Euclid St. She said that she had a license to carry firearms, and pointed them to the location of the AK-47 rifle, which had a large-capacity feeding device attached to it. A check of her license revealed that it had been revoked in 2011. Next to the rifle, officers located multiple Tupperware containers of marijuana, a scale and packaging materials consistent with distribution.

Mr. Johnson and Ms. Nketsiah were placed under arrest. He is charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Rifle, Unlawfully Carrying a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of a rifle without an FID card, Possession of Ammunition without an FID card, Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Gun, Carrying a Loaded Firearm While Under the Influence, Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Rifle in Public, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute. She is charged with Possession of a rifle without an FID card, Possession of Ammunition without an FID card, Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Gun, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute. They will both be arraigned today in Worcester District Court.
