Charlton Man Arrested for Numerous Unarmed Robberies

Worcester, MA (January 19, 2012) - On Thursday, January 19, 2012 at approximately 10:28 AM Worcester Police responded to 719 Southbridge Street (Shell Gas Station) for an attempted unarmed robbery. Upon the officers arrival they met with an employee. According to the employee, a white male, approximately 200 pounds, 6’-0” tall, clean shaven, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, sweat pants, work boots, entered the store and approached the counter. The suspect handed a note to the employee and demanded cash. The employee refused the order and began to call the police. The male fled the store without the cash.

While interviewing witnesses to this incident police received a dispatch indicating that a male fitting the same description had just robbed the nearby Dollar Store located at 700 Southbridge Street. That robbery occurred at approximately 10:33 AM. Police reviewed the security video footage from the gas station and then went to the Dollar Store and viewed their security footage. The suspect matched both videos.

According to the clerk at the Dollar Store, a male fitting the above description entered the store and placed a note on the counter. The note demanded cash. The clerk, upon viewing the threatening note, handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect took the cash and fled out of the store. At this time the clerk ran after the suspect and observed the male enter a black pickup truck and drive out of the parking lot and onto Riverside Street, heading towards Southbridge Street. The clerk was able to write down the registration plate.

The truck description and registration were broadcasted to city wide police units. At approximately 11:30 AM Officers on patrol in the Lincoln Street area made contact with the suspect vehicle. Officers followed the truck for a short distance while they waited for additional police units to arrive. The truck was eventually stopped in the Lincoln Plaza area. The operator of the truck was identified as Brad Davis, 33 years old of 245 Oxford Road, Charlton. Mr. Davis was removed from the truck while detectives transported witnesses to the scene of the stop. Witnesses identified Davis as the suspect.

Mr. Davis was placed under arrest and charged with Unarmed Robbery and Attempted Unarmed Robbery. Davis was transported to police headquarters and interviewed. As a result of the interview, additional information was obtained that linked him to 3 more unarmed robberies and one more attempted unarmed robbery.
