Cabdriver Carjacked at Gunpoint on Belmont St

Worcester, MA (November 6, 2017) - On November 6th, 2017 at about 1220 PM, Worcester police officers were dispatched to a hospital emergency room for a report of a Carjacking that had just occurred. Officers spoke with the victim, who was driving a taxi on Belmont St. Near the intersection of Belmont St and Everard St, a male opened up the rear door of the cab and brandished a firearm. The suspect demanded money, and struck the victim. The victim gave the male money and got out of the cab. The suspect drove away with the cab.

The stolen cab was found unoccupied nearby a short time after the incident. The suspect has not been located and arrested at this time.  In the immediate aftermath of the incident, nearby schools were notified of the situation and kept their students inside as a precautionary measure.
