Becker College Student Arrested for Home Invasion

Worcester, MA (January 28, 2013) - On Monday, January 28, 2013 at approximately 1:18 AM, Worcester Police responded to a Russell Street apartment for a report of a home invasion. Upon police arrival they met with four male victims who were inside the apartment. The four males are WPI students, all 20 years of age.

According to the victims, three males, all masked, entered their apartment with one holding a handgun. The three suspects ordered some of the men to the ground while moving others to different parts of the apartment. The males were demanding money from the victims.

During this incident one of the victims managed to pull down the mask of one of the suspects as the two struggled. Once the mask was removed the victim recognized the suspect.

When the mask was removed the suspects ran from the apartment. It is believed that the suspects fled in a dark colored motor vehicle.

Members of the Worcester Police Detective Bureau were called to the scene. Investigators interviewed the victims and worked on establishing a motive to this incident. During the investigation, officers were able to obtain the identity of the suspect that had his face exposed during the struggle. He was identified as Michael Russell, 22-years-old of 21 Morris Park Lane, East Hampton, NY. Mr. Russell is a student at Becker College.

At approximately 4:30 AM, Worcester Police met with members of the Becker College Police Department. Together the officers went to the dorm room of Mr. Russell. Officers were greeted by Mr. Russell and he was explained why they were there. Mr. Russell was placed under arrest and charged with the Home Invasion.

This investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to search for the other two suspects.
