Worcester, MA (June 21, 2011) - On Monday, June 20, 2011 members of the Shooting Response Team made an arrest in connection to the May 25, 2011 shooting incident which affected a baseball ball game being played nearby where young players and their parents stopped the game to seek shelter from the gunfire.
At the time of the incident, detectives recovered two spent shell casings on Arthur Street. Worcester Police Detectives working the case immediately canvassed the area for potential witnesses. Members of the Shooting Response Team along with detectives and members of the gang unit worked the investigation and eventually developed probable cause to locate and arrest one of the males involved.
On Monday, members of the Shooting Response Team did locate Kevin Jones at his home and placed him under arrest for Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Assault and Battery With a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License and Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card. Mr. Jones is 18 years old and resides at 22 Oakview Street, Worcester. Mr. Jones will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
