Worcester, MA (October 20, 2017) - On Friday, October 20, 2017, at approximately 2:54 PM, Worcester Police responded to a Lake Avenue North home for a report of a house break. While responding to the address, officers were informed that a neighbor had followed the suspect from the neighbor’s house to Dunkin Donuts located at the intersection of Lincoln and Plantation Streets. The officers were given a detailed description of the suspect.

One officer responded to Dunkin Donuts while the other responded to the address. The officer arriving at Dunkin Donuts observed a female that fit the suspect’s description entering a yellow cab. The officer ordered the female out of the cab. The female was in possession of several bags.

The other officer arriving at the home and met with the victim. According to the victim, he received a call from his neighbor stating that there was a female inside his home acting suspicious. The owner responded to the home and immediately realized that he had been a victim of a house break. The owner stated that the house had been ransacked and that several items of jewelry were missing along with medications and electronic devices.

The officer at Dunkin Donuts identified the woman as Rosemary Santana, 34-years-old of 114 Piedmont Street. The officer asked Ms. Santana to empty the contents of the bag. The officer could see that several medication bottles had the victim’s name on it. The remaining items, electronic devices and jewelry, matched the description of the missing property from the victim’s home.

At this time the victim’s neighbor approached the officer and identified Ms. Santana as the female seen inside her neighbor’s home. The neighbor stated that she followed the suspect in her car after she left the house and called police.

The victim arrived at the Dunkin Donuts with the other officer and he identified all the items as his with the exception of a screwdriver. The screwdriver matched the pry marks on the front door which was locked prior to leaving earlier.

Ms. Santana was placed under arrest and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent to Commit a Felony, Larceny from a Building, Possession of a Burglarious Instrument and Possession of a Class E Substance (victim’s medications).
