Worcester, MA (August 8, 2011) - On Saturday, August 6, 2011, at approximately 7:44 PM Worcester Police responded to a motor vehicle accident that involved a 9 year old boy on a bicycle at Elm and Townsend Streets. According to the preliminary investigation by the Accident Reconstruction Team, a 2005 Honda Accord, being operated by a 40 year old female Worcester resident, was traveling westbound on Elm Street when she struck the boy on his bicycle as he was traveling out of Hudson Street and into both travel lanes of Elm Street.
The boy was transported to UMass Hospital (university campus) by Worcester EMS and was listed in stable condition at the time. The boy was subsequently treated and released later on. The operator of the Honda was uninjured; damage to the vehicle was to the front end and to the hood.
At this time the driver was not cited, however, this investigation is ongoing as the Accident Reconstruction Team continues to review and process evidence taken from the scene and the automobile.
