Worcester, MA (March 11, 2011) - In October of 2010 the Worcester Police Vice Squad along with members of the Massachusetts State Police CPAC and DEA-HIDTA Worcester Office started an investigation regarding a high level drug organization responsible for the distribution of large quantities of heroin throughout the Worcester Area. During this investigation information was developed that several indentified men were arranging deliveries of heroin. As a result of this information, under cover vice officers began to conduct surveillance of the indentified suspects.
Information developed indicated that the leader of the organization, Mr. Maximo Nunez, 50 years old of 28 Grove Street, Millbury, and his associates were distributing in excess of 500 bags per day, taking in approximately $5,000 in cash per day, seven days a week, resulting in an annual $1,825,000 cash income. This group sold approximately 182,500 bags of heroin per year totaling more than 5 kilograms of heroin.
During the investigation, Mr. Nunez and his close associate, Mr. Jose Aristy-Bueno, 25 years old of 28 Grove Street, Millbury were seen operating several different vehicles and conducting business out of 509 Park Avenue and other addresses in Millbury and Leicester.
On March 10, 2011, after several months of following vehicles, obtaining identities and conducting surveillance, vice officers secured the addresses which were associated with the heroin organization. Search warrants were executed for 509 Park Avenue, 37 Church Street, Leicester, and at 28 Grove Street, Millbury. On the same day, Mr. Nunez and Aristy-Bueno were located and arrested. Mr. Nunez was charged with Distribution and Manufacturing of Class A Substance (2nd or subsequent offense), Trafficking in Heroin Greater Than 200 Grams and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws. He is being held on $1,000,000 cash bail. Mr. Aristy-Bueno was charged with Distribution of Class A Substance, Trafficking in Heroin Greater Than 200 Grams and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws. He is being held on $750,000 cash bail.
As a result of the search, 200 grams of heroin were seized at the 509 Park Avenue address along with packaging materials. The street value of the heroin seized is approximately $120,000. The 28 Grove Street address in Millbury was searched and $5,222 in cash was located and officers seized drug packaging materials. Packaging materials were located at 37 Church Street, Leicester.
Information during this investigation also provided probable cause to arrest Margaret Galligan, 51 years old of 16 Crompton Street, Worcester. Ms. Galligan was charged with Distribution of Class A Substance, Possession of Class A With Intent to Distribute and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws. In addition, Ms. Tiffany Matozel, 26 years old of 15 Norwood Avenue, Ayer, MA, Brian Pulsifer, 41 years old of 48 Conrad Road, Marlborough, MA, and Daniel Magliaro, 26 years old of 200 West Main Street, Millbury, MA, were arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws. Jason Borowski, 27 years old of 75 Mill Street, Worcester was arrested for Resisting Arrest, Disturbing the Peace, Possession of Class B With Intent to Distribute, Disorderly Behavior and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws.
This was a lengthy investigation led by Vice Officer Larry T. Williams which involved several agencies including but not limited to the Massachusetts State Police, DEA-HIDTA, Millbury Police, Leicester Police and the District Attorney’s Office of Joseph Early. The conclusion of this investigation will make a substantial impact on the drug trade here in the City of Worcester. This investigation is ongoing as investigators continue to apprehend and identify other members of this organization. Those arrested will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Friday, March 11, 2011.
