3 Arrested for the Lovell Street Homicide and Home Invasion

Worcester, MA (June 4, 2012) - On Sunday, June 3, 3012 at approximately 5:00 AM Worcester Police Detectives along with the Worcester Police Swat Team executed a search warrant for 53 Suffolk Street apartment #3 with regard to the May 12, 2012 home invasion/homicide. This apartment is the residence of one of the suspects involved in the homicide of 32 year old Javier Maldonado. The home invasion also left two females critically injured. This apartment belongs to 27 year old Noel Inoa. Mr. Inoa was arrested early this morning at JFK Airport in New York City as his plane touched down from an overnight flight. Mr. Inoa was returning to the United States from the Dominican Republic. Police coordinated the execution of the search warrant when confirmation was obtained that Mr. Inoa was in the air and on his way to New York. This coordinated effort involved several agencies (DA Joseph Early’s office, NY Port Authority, Customs and Border Patrol and the Southbridge Police Department). Mr. Inoa was charged with Murder, 3 counts of Home Invasion, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault and Battery, 2 counts of Attempted Murder and 1 count of Armed Robbery.

As a result of the warrant for the third floor apartment police recovered 6 firearms and 2 pellet guns. During the execution of the warrant police knocked on the second floor apartment to speak with the residents. Police noticed that Mr. Inoa’s name was listed for the second floor apartment as well. A woman opened the door; she was later identified as Barbara Marrero-Rodriguez, 32 years old of the second floor apartment. Ms. Marrero-Rodriguez fit the unique physical description of a female suspect that was obtained during the course of this investigation. At that time Ms. Marero-Rodriguez was asked to accompany officers to police headquarters for questioning. While Ms. Marrero-Rodriguez went to police headquarters detectives secured her apartment while they sought a search warrant for apartment #2. Officers did receive a search warrant and executed it at approximately 12:00 PM. The result of that search produced a loaded 9mm handgun with defaced serial numbers. Based on information obtained during the investigation as well as evidence collected at the scene Ms. Marrero-Rodriguez was placed under arrest and charged with Intimidation of a Witness, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Large Capacity Weapon and Feeding Device and Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Serial Numbers During the Commission of a Felony.

At approximately 8:00 AM, Members of the Worcester Police Detective Bureau met with members of the Southbridge Police Department for the purpose of locating Ms. Marrero-Rodriguez’s brother, Jose Marrero-Rodriguez, 33 years old of 98 Pine Street, Southbridge. Mr. Marrero-Rodriguez was located shortly after their arrival in Southbridge and was subsequently transported back to Worcester Police headquarters. After a brief interview, Mr. Marrero-Rodriguez was placed under arrest and charged with Murder, 2 counts of Attempted Murder, 3 counts of Home Invasion, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Armed Robbery.

Both Jose and Barbara Marrero-Rodriguez will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Monday, June 4, 2012. Mr. Inoa is currently being processed in New York City while rendition proceedings are underway; his return to Massachusetts has yet to be determined.
