Worcester, MA (May 26, 2011) - On Wednesday, May 25, 2011, Worcester Police responded to the area of 97 Chino Avenue for a report of a large group fighting outside with knives. While officers responded they were given an update from the caller that a female was stabbed.
Upon the officers' arrival they observed a large crowd standing around the victim who was sitting on the curb. The victim is an 18 year old female who had received a large laceration to her upper left chest near the collar bone along with a smaller laceration to her left forearm.
The victim was transported to UMass Hospital (university campus) where she is currently listed in stable condition and will be treated and released later on in the evening or early morning of May 26, 2011.
Information obtained at the scene indicated that the victim was in a physical altercation with a 21 year old female and during the fight the 21 year old mother engaged into the fight and slashed the victim. The mother had been identified by several witnesses. At this time officers have located the woman at a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries that she received in the fight. Upon her release she will be placed under arrest by police. The suspect’s name will not be released at this time until she is in police custody.
Worcester Detectives are interviewing witnesses and establishing a motive for the initial fight.
